Goulong MYO Contest 2016! CLOSED

• You MUST be a member of the group to enter! There is no requirement to join, you will be accepted automatically.
• Please Read the Goulong Website all the way through, especially the biology and traits.
• There are two categories for winning: Story and Design. You don’t need to specify which category you are entering, as your entry may be selected for either.
• It is optional to create/write a backstory for your goulong, but is necessary to be considered for a Story Winner. Please refer to the Story guidelines of this journal for more help.
• Accessories are allowed, but you MUST draw a version without the accessories for it to be a valid entry. Accessories are not considered part of the design and will not be a part of the judging process.
• Your entry will be judged solely on design or story, and not your artistic ability!
• Submit your entry to the MYO Contest Folder in the group!

• You can make up to two entries. Only one can win, and only one can be bought at the end of this contest. Please refer to the Pricing section of this journal. Please submit them as separate entries.
• If you win, and have made a second entry, you are allowed to also make your second entry official for the fee stated at the end of this journal. If you did not win, you can only make one of the designs official.
• You can enter even if you have a goulong already!
• Even if you intend to buy/confident in winning, please do not commission or draw illustrations of your goulong until they are official. Sorry!

• Please read this section of the website entirely before designing. If you have any other questions feel free to ask on this journal.
• Your goulong can have any body type(can be a mix of any, or a totally new body type), tongue type, whisker type (one set or both sets, cannot have no whiskers), hair type/style or head shape.
• Your goulong cannot have blessed traits or mutations.
• by default, your entry can only have common traits. Please refer to the traits guide of this section to learn how to unlock more traits.
• You can go back and edit your entry at any point before the judging process, but please understand these must only be minor edits, or changes to traits.
• If your design has any problems, you will be contacted and the entry will not be valid until the issues are fixed.
• You are allowed to put other things like scars, tattoos or brands on your goulong, but these will not be considered during the judging process for design, but can be if it is relevant to their story.
• Your goulong cannot be a hatchling or a child.

Here's some notes I've added since I think some people were a little confused!! This is about whiskers/eyebrows!

Long whiskers are optional, and are purely for aesthetic on a goulong. They have no rarity and you don't need to ask before putting them on your goulong. You can choose whether or not your goulong has them. Short whiskers, however, are never optional, and must be present with or without the long whiskers.

*they wont have eyebrows when they have the hairless mutation, but that mutation is not allowed during this MYO contest.

• Please read the ENTIRETY of the website before writing. You are allowed to go back and edit your goulong’s story at any point before the judging process, including entire revamps. You may also leave parts blank until you have decided.
• Your goulong can have any occupation, childhood, alignment or lifestyle you want, as long as it makes contextual sense to the world of goulongs.
• Your goulong cannot be a Warrior of Heaven (official army warriors) or Shaman Casters (official government shamans) as these will be tiered/levelled options later. Your goulong, however, can be unofficial versions of these (aspiring, amateur, novice, rouges, gang members, vagabonds, mercenaries, etc). If you have concerns about what is allowed, feel free to comment with your intended occupation or hobby.
• Your goulong can be anything from a wealthy aristocrat or a poor peasant. Again if you have questions or concerns, please comment.

• Total, your goulong can only have THREE accessories. You don't need to make three, but this is the maximum.
• Items that are part of a set can be considered one accessory (set of necklaces, bracelets, sets of earrings, gloves, shoes etc).
• You must draw or describe the accessories separately so we can tell how many there are.
• Accessories must be things shown on the body and not held items that are hidden (bottles, flasks, mementos).
• Your Entry will NOT be judged by its accessories, they are just for fun if you wish to give your goulong more character or just want to design them for yourself.
• If you make your goulong official, you can keep the accessories.
• If there is a problem with the accessories, we will let you know and you will have time to fix it before the judging process. If it is not fixed by then, this will not render your entry invalid, but the accessory will not become official for your goulong and must be removed from its design.

Hats, Shoes, Jackets, Coats, Capelets/Cloaks, Shirts, Pants (?????), Hair accessories (beads, hair ties, hair pins, hair sticks, etc), Necklaces, bracelets, earrings, flowers, piercings, bags, purses, or satchels are OK and free to make. Jewelry that does not have precious stones are free (gold, silver, iron, copper, bronze, etc).


Crowns, long capes/cloaks, accessories with precious gems/stones (diamonds, rubies, emeralds, jade, amethyst, sapphires, pearls, etc.), Official Alignment brooches/emblems/patches, floating objects and festive/celebration themed items.

• By default, your goulong can only have common traits. However, you may advertise in order to unlock traits.
• You can advertise on any social networking site such as dA, Tumblr, Twitter, FA, etc. Deviations for advertising cannot just be in the description, but must be a drawing to advertise. Polls and Journals also count as separate forms of advertising.
• For each form of advertising, you will gain ONE Advertising Point. Please comment here to give proof of advertising. If you have advertised again, please edit your previous comment. We will reply with your current advertising points, as well as edit when you have added more.
• You may refer someone to the contest, however you will only get points if they actually enter. If they do, you gain TWO Advertising Points. You can refer as many people as you want. For proof, please tag the person you referred and entered, their entry and have them reply to your comment to confirm. You will only get points after this has happened.

• if you don’t win, you can make your goulong official for a fee, point equivalent is allowed:

• $20 for Common.
• $25 for Uncommon.
• $30 for Rare.

• You can remove trait rarities after judging if you wish to fall into a different fee category.
• If you have advertising points that add up to allow higher tier traits but you haven't used them yet, you are welcome to change them before making them official, but please keep in mind this will increase the fee.
  
• There will be 2 grand prize winners, and 2 runner ups. All 4 will get their goulongs made official for free, as well as a few pieces of art from our prize artists!
